Do you love local history? Are you looking to get involved in an awesome community organization? We are actively seeking to grow our volunteer base!
We offer volunteer opportunities for a variety of skill levels, abilities, and time commitments. We are currently looking for volunteer front desk greeters and floaters to answer visitor questions throughout the museum space. Receptionist
Sit at the front desk to welcome visitors, answer the phone, and transfer calls to appropriate staff. Shifts are available Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-1pm and 1pm-4pm.
Special Events
Assist during public programs, receptions, and special events by setting up, serving, decorating, promoting, and/or cleaning. Shifts as needed. Weekend and evening hours are available.
Docent & School Group Docent
Provide tours to Museum guests. Docent shifts are determined based on need and last the length of the tour.
Gallery Attendant
Maintain a presence in the gallery spaces to monitor and assist visitors. Shifts available Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-1pm and 1pm-4pm.
Administrative Assistant
Assist the Museum with record keeping and office tasks. Shifts determined on an individual basis.
Costumed Interpreters
Provide short lessons in historically appropriate clothing either within the Museum space, or offsite, providing dynamic educational lesson. Shifts are determined as needed. Weekend, evening, and weekday hours available.
Archives Assistant
Assist the Newberry Museum collections manager with archives and collections care such as updating catalogs, transporting items, and researching provenance for museum artifacts. Shifts determined on individual basis.
Educational Program Assistants
Assist teachers and school group docents with educational programs in the Museum. Shifts during weekday mornings.
